WELCOME to our 9th edition of “A Day in the Country” Gazette!

As I sit here on my patio in 90 plus degree weather it is hard for me to be inspired to write about the upcoming fall and winter months, but if I think hard enough, I will start to feel the coolness of the crisp clean air and see the gorgeous fall colors; and before you know it we will be looking out our windows watching our first snow fall. Wow... It seems to be working I feel much cooler already! But, as much as I love the changing of the seasons I have mixed emotions. This past year has brought a lot of challenges to us all because of rising fuel and food costs. And most of us have had to make some concessions. In my own case, it has forced me to look at things a little differently and be less frivolous. One of the ways my husband & I have conserved our resources is by shopping locally. We are fortunate in the fact that this is an area rich in unique gift shoppes & businesses. Most of these businesses are owned and operated by the owner, so you are bound to get the best possible treatment available and they will bend backwards to please you. As you page through this issue of the gazette you will find each and every shoppe bursting at the seams with beautiful seasonal and everyday decorating ideas and gifts for even the most discriminating person on your gift list. Soooo plan your trip accordingly; save some time and gas and head out to your favorite shoppes and treat yourself to some fabulous gifts for everyone on your list, but first and foremost, don’t forget to splurge on yourself sometimes too! May you all experience an amazing fall & a wonderful & blessed Christmas season.

Country Blessings,
Vicki
